Rahul Sawhney

Mr. Sawhney is a private equity investor with over twenty years of experience across buy-and-build, carve-out, distressed, and traditional buyout strategies, and ten years in banking within capital markets, restructurings and corporate banking. 

He has led control private equity investments in performing businesses through buyouts and carve-outs and in complex distressed situations, including in-court and out-of-court restructurings and Section 363 sales,  across North America, Europe, and Asia.

Mr. Sawhney has partnered with management teams to drive turnarounds and growth including by bringing a strategic mindset, building governance and reporting frameworks, recruiting and incentivizing investment, operational, and executive talent, creating a high-performance culture, instituting technology enabled processes, driving operational value-creation initiatives, strengthening cash management, and executing add-on acquisitions and exits.

Mr. Sawhney has invested across a broad range of sectors, including industrials, automotive, building products, plastics and packaging, and consumer, and has served on the boards of several companies, including Premier Thermal Solutions, CTM Group, Techniks Tool Group, Thomas Nelson, Focus Products Group, MSDP Group, Xperience Restaurant Group, Modere, and Twin-Star International.

He began his career in banking at JPMorgan Chase and predecessor institutions and gained his private equity experience at Aterian Investment Partners, Z Capital Partners, and Black Diamond Capital Management.

He holds a B.Tech. in Electronics & Communications Engineering from the National Institute of Technology, India, and an MBA (with honors) from the University of Chicago.
